We’ve prepared our popular buffet lunch featuring a selection of wild mountain vegetables brimming with the bounty of spring. Grown in the deep snows of the Echigo-Tsumari satoyama, these wild vegetables sprout vigorously as the snow melts, offering exceptional aroma and flavor.Featuring an abundance of seasonal wild vegetables such as butterbur buds, bracken ferns, and Japanese arrowroot, our buffet offers the Echigo Matsudai Satoyama Shokudo’s signature wild vegetable dishes—inspired by local cuisine and reimagined with a modern twist.
Enjoy the unique flavors of the season while taking in the spring scenery of the satoyama.

Located within Matsudai’s “Nobutai,” this space serves as both an art gallery and a restaurant. Enjoy the artistic ambiance while savoring the “Satoyama Buffet,” featuring a selection of dishes inspired by Matsudai’s local flavors and home-style cooking.

Matsudai NOHBUTAI Field Museum (Collective name for multiple facilities and artworks)

The Matsudai NOHBUTAI is a base facility designed by Dutch architect group MVRDV. Approximately 40 works of art are scattered in a 2-km area of satoyama from Matsudai NOHBUTAI to Matsudai Castle at the top of the mountain, and the entire area is called the "Matsudai NOHBUTAI Field Museum.
