Continuing from last year, the Tsumari Archive Center will present “KAWAMATA PROJECT DOCUMENT VIDEO 2” by Kawamata Tadashi, who has had deep ties with the center since 2009 and maintains a studio there.Kawamata Tadashi, who has developed his artworks through a “work-in-progress” approach, will screen the latest project footage, including scenes from his exhibition held at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris in February 2026. Additionally, a new artwork will be created in his studio during the exhibition period. Visitors can also view the center’s collection of regional art materials and art books.
Shimizu Elementary School, which has maintained a deep connection with the Interlocal Art Network Center—of which Kawamata Tadashi served as director in 2009—has evolved into a venue for archive and library activities. In addition to exhibiting new works, it serves as a vast art-related library housing materials from the art festival, documents on community-based art projects, and a collection of approximately 30,000 books donated by the late art critic Yusuke Nakahara.Since 2022, Kawamata Tadashi’s studio has been housed within the building.
