House Software Launch Event

In addition to the Mayor of Tsunan Town and Director Kitagawa Fram, all the people involved with “Hong Kong House,” including the artist and internship students, will gather to celebrate the opening of the exhibition. This will be a commemorative meeting connecting Tsunan Town and Hong Kong, so please come and join us.

Social Event

In conjunction with the soft launch, we will be hosting two events where you can interact with people from Hong Kong! Both events are free of charge and no reservation is required, so please feel free to join us.

1. Paper-making workshop

Recycled paper can be easily made. Children can also experience this, so we recommend that parents and children participate together.

2. Pickles tasting event

You can compare pickles from Hong Kong and Tsunan. A little different Hong Kong pickles? You can eat a slightly different type of Hong Kong pickles!

Facility Introduction

Hong Kong House
This residence and gallery facility will serve as a permanent base for cultural exchange with Hong Kong. The design was selected from an open competition by Chun Hang, a team of young architects who have attracted attention for their work at the 2012 Venice Biennale of Architecture and other exhibitions. Throughout the year, a variety of community exchange programs will be held in collaboration with Hong Kong universities, cultural institutions, and local governments, and writers, performers, and literary artists selected through a competition will stay in Hong Kong to exhibit their works. A variety of events will be held during the Triennial.

Echigo-Tsumari Kamigo Clove Theatre

The Kamigo Junior High School closed down in 2012 but was reopened as a new base for the performing arts. Kamigo Clove Theatre functions as a residency, practice facility, and a performing arts stage and theatre. Artists are invited to reside in this facility and lead a "satoyama" lifestyle and learn through collaboration with local people to influence their performances. Within the building is also a unique restaurant where meals are served by local women while they "perform" a theatrical piece. (Opened irregularly)

Housed in the Echigo-Tsumari Kamigo Clove Theatre - previously the Kamigo Junior High School - the Clove Theatre restaurant is a "performing restaurant" where local women cook wonderful dishes for you while acting out a theatrical performance. ※ Open for a limited period.
