Hachi & Seizo Tashima Museum of Picture Book Art
The setting is the closed Sanada Primary School. The three last pupils who actually existed became the main characters and the work was composed like a picture book using the space. The objects placed throughout the school building are painted on driftwood, nuts and other natural objects collected from the seaside of the Izu Peninsula and the Sea of Japan. At the entrance is a giant water-powered goat-shaped deer, which is the driving force behind the objects in the school building. The artist has tried to recreate the students, teachers and even ghosts that used to live in the school.
