Facility Info and Map

An art museum where parents and children can spend the whole day together

There are lots of interesting classrooms inside the school building. You’ll also find Hachi Café, the Kusamura Room, and a shop selling products. Outside, a mother goat and her kids live on the grounds. On sunny days, you can search for rare aquatic creatures in the outdoor biotope area.

Hachi Café

This café is located within the “Hachi & Tashima Seizo Museum of Picture Book Art,” where the entire building of a former school has been transformed into a three-dimensional picture book. Here, you can enjoy ice cream made with kinoto berries harvested in the Hachi village and original blend coffee while taking in the views of the surrounding mountains. They also serve “Special Vegetable Curry,” a Hachi Café-style take on the curry featured in the picture book *The School Will Never Be Empty*!

The Museum with Goats

A goat named “Shizuka”—the same name as the goat in Tashima Seizo’s picture book—and her kid live at the art museum.
