Echigo-Tsumari Kamigo Clove Theatre

Facility Info and Map

The venue is the former Kamigo Junior High School in Tsunan Town, Niigata Prefecture, which closed in 2012. Renovated and opened in the summer of 2015, the Echigo-Tsumari Kamigo Clove Theatre was conceived as a hub for the performing arts within the “Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale,” held in the Echigo-Tsumari region. This facility allows performers to create and stage artworks while staying in this nature-rich region. It aims to explore the potential of performing arts in the local community and serve as a venue for exchange between urban and rural areas. Outside of the Echigo-Tsumari Art Field period, the venue welcomes groups—both professional and amateur—engaged in music, dance, theater, and other performing arts who wish to use the space for residencies, intensive rehearsals, or performances.
