Join artist Koji Suzuki—creator of the spring-summer Special Exhibition “Koji Suzuki: Clay Caravan” at the Museum of Picture Book Art—for a paper-cutting workshop where you’ll have fun using scissors. Let your imagination run wild as you cut into the paper, delighting in the shapes that emerge by chance and the stories they inspire, all while creating your very own artwork. Everyone is welcome to join, from children to adults. We invite you to experience the joy of creating with your hands alongside the Special Exhibition.

▼Author Koji Suzuki

Born in Shizuoka Prefecture in 1948. Raised on goat’s milk. Has been drawing on the ground and digging holes since childhood, and continues to do so today. Currently resides in Kobe. His live painting performances, featuring improvisational drawings using the “Super-Ha” technique, take place mainly on the streets, where he paints on giant canvases using chopsticks for his hands and feet, sweeping passersby into a cosmic explosion of the vast universe! Lately, he’s been obsessed with kneading clay. His picture books include *Enso-kun Rides the Train*, *Ghost Drive*, *Mountain Disco*, *Kobekko*, and *Chinchiraka and the Giant Man*. His art books include *Koji Suzuki’s Great Magic Art Book* and *The Sky Slide*. In 2019, NHK E-TV’s *Sunday Art Museum* aired an episode titled “The World of Koji Suzuki.”

Koji Suzuki, one of Japan’s leading picture book authors and artists, has captivated countless readers with his vivid colors, bold lines, and unique worldview born of creative ideas that transcend time and borders.This exhibition features not only the original artwork from the picture books *Dome Gatari* (Tamagawa University Press) and *Denden Densha* (Kotsu Shimbunsha), but also his current creative endeavors—including three-dimensional clay and paper sculptures—as well as a stunning display of monumental paintings. It is an exhibition where visitors can fully immerse themselves in Koji Suzuki’s boundless creativity and vibrant energy, which transcend the confines of a mere picture book artist.
