Australia House
Australia House was established in 2012 as a symbol of recovery from the earthquake and a testament to the exchange between Echigo-Tsumari and Australia. During periods when there are no artist-in-residence programs, the facility is now open to adults for overnight stays. Guests can experience staying in an architectural space designed by artists, enjoy exclusive access to the artworks installed both inside and outside, and take in the stunning natural surroundings that make this an ideal location.

– Australia House is located in a nature-rich village deep in the mountains. As this area is home to many insects and other wildlife, please be aware of this before your stay.
– Australia House is located in a quiet village. Please be considerate of your surroundings at all times, day and night.
– Artworks are displayed throughout the facility. We may seek compensation for any damage or breakage caused by guest negligence.
– Due to the building’s design, there are areas that may be hazardous for small children. Therefore, we cannot accommodate children staying alone. We also ask that adults exercise caution and supervision during your stay. - 【Other Important Notes】
– Staff are not permanently stationed on the premises. Please note that staff will be absent at night. We will respond to emergency calls, but please refrain from contacting us for non-emergency matters.
– Local residents serve as our on-site staff. Please be aware that they are unable to provide guidance or assistance in foreign languages.
– Smoking is prohibited inside the building. Please smoke in the garden. Ashtrays are not provided. - 【Cancellation Policy】
In the event of a cancellation, please contact the Reservation desk provided at the time of booking as soon as possible. If you cancel your reservation for personal reasons, a cancellation fee will be charged starting 3 days prior to your scheduled arrival date. ＜Cancellation Fees＞

For guests staying at art works such as the House of Light, the Shedding House, the Dream House, and Australia House, we are launching a takeout service for breakfast and dinner provided by the Echigo Matsudai Satoyama Shokudo. Even if your accommodation does not offer meals, you can still enjoy dishes made with seasonal ingredients from the Echigo-Tsumari region.
