Dadang Christanto is developing a new work, “A Hand is a Beautiful Thing,” at the Seidayama Campsite. He will create small windmills made of recyclable materials such as aluminum cans and plastic bottles. Before the Triennial, a workshop to create the work will be held for students attending school in Nakasato, and during the Triennial, a workshop to create the work will be held for visitors to the Seidayama Campsite. Through the workshops, visitors will be able to complete their artworks. In total, about 240 thorns will be colorfully changed through the workshop. *The artist will not be present during the workshop during the exhibition period.
Participants are asked to make small windmills and wind chimes from recyclable materials such as plastic bottles, paper, cardboard, and aluminum cans, which will be displayed as part of their artwork.
Dadang Christan
Born in Tegal, Java in 1957, Dadang Christanto has spent the past 30 years creating works that are deeply rooted in the human experience, whether it be political violence or wrongdoing against humanity. Now living on the central coast of New South Wales, he continues to produce work that addresses human suffering and the need for compassion, regardless of faith or political system.
