Ochi Yoshie "Traveling School"

Summary

At last year’s “Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale 2022”, a theatrical work “Ashita no Ashiato to Ashioto to Atashi” was created by weaving words and games that came out through workshops into a play. This year, the artist and director Ochi Yoshie, who created this work, will hold a theater workshop for more children to experience it. After five days of rehearsals, elementary school students from Tsunan Town and Tokamachi City will present “Traveling School,” a play that travels around “Echigo-Tsumari Kamigo Clove Theater” .

In preparation for the performance, artist-director Ochi Yoshie will share the joy of theater with the children through play and workshops. The method of Ochi Yoshie’s creation is unique: there is no prepared script or movements, but rather she weaves together the lines and movements of the children and incorporates them into her work.
