Summary

Ito Makotos experiential exhibition “Look Up to the Sky” will be held in Nunagawa Campus. Wearing a mirrored object, visitors will be able to walk while looking at the scenery above their heads, which they would not normally be able to see.

Born in Nagoya, 1955. Completed the graduate Sculpture Course at the Graduate School of Art and Design, Musashino Art University in 1983. Stayed in Ireland under the Agency of Cultural Affairs’ Program of Artist Overseas Training for one year from 1996. Exploring different media under the theme of contemporary sculptures since the 1980s. Although known for primordial shapes, including the ones in the collections of the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo and the Chiba City Museum of Art, he creates a range of work from site-specific art such as Crescent in Matsudai Area, Tokyo to a series of wearable pieces called Boat that has been created since 2010 and paper multiples including Jyu-wa (tentales) in 2017.
