[NOHBUTAI Field Museum Exhibition]Kano Tetsuro “Abstract maps, Concrete territories”

Summary

This project will take place in rice paddies, satoyama, and other places where people are trying to return to nature from satoyama, and in situations where works already installed there or to be installed there are trying to gain their own territories. The works will be exhibited in the woods in the Matsudai NOHBUTAI Field Museum and near the facilities, and fruits, flowers, and stones will be added to the artworks by the artist and participants during the workshops.

In this place of satoyama and terraced rice paddies, relationships and unique environments are established through people’s longtime work with nature. Just as people cut grass, build paths, build bridges, plow fields, and fill rice paddies with water, carrying stones, arranging branches, and offering nuts are nothing less than working with nature. Let’s walk through the forest and pick up something, imagining that those stones and branches will become the nests and settlements of animals.
