Built in 1924, this thatched-roof farmhouse in the Echigo Nakamon style has undergone a REBIRTH through the art of ceramics. The first floor features a restaurant-gallery where artworks by leading Japanese ceramic artists—including irori hearths, Furnaces, Washing stands, and Bats—are displayed, and where dishes made with local ingredients are served on the artists’ own tableware. The second floor serves as a ceramics exhibition space comprising three tea rooms. The warm atmosphere created by the ceramics and the thatched-roof house, along with the lively smiles and chatter of the local women, has made this place a popular destination.
