“The black-painted ceiling and walls reflect one’s own image, and through the round windows opening in all directions, one can take in a panoramic view of the changing seasonal landscapes. Just as the Shedding House undergoes a transformation, the intricately carved floor reaffirms—through the sensation felt on the soles of one’s feet—that one is indeed in the Ichino-ma; and when seated on the gold-leaf-covered altar, one can let various thoughts wander in this quiet moment” (Artist’s comment)

Information on the Shuttle Bus to Matsudai Castle
A shuttle bus runs on an as-needed basis between Matsudai NOHBUTAI and the area near Matsudai Castle (about a 10-minute walk). If you wish to use this service, please ask the staff at the Matsudai NOHBUTAI reception desk.
*A Field Museum ticket or a Common Ticket is required to board.
