About the artwork

A Mysterious Tale Unfolding from “Shiryō”
An exhibition at the Local History Museum by an artist who continues to create works inspired by people’s daily lives, folklore, local landscapes, and history. The theme centers on the word “shiryō” and the history of the museum itself.Through in-house exhibits such as drawings and three-dimensional artworks, the exhibition explores the meaning, role, and value of the word “materials” itself. Furthermore, by expanding into homophones—such as “historical records,” “animal feed,” “samples,” and “spirits of the dead”—the artist aims to “generate new Points of View and insights regarding the exhibits and facilities within the museum, thereby bringing to light the unique stories hidden within the space” (artist’s comment).
