Born in 1959 in Gwangju, South Korea. Ri Eung-woo studied Korean painting and has conducted research on nature art through the creation of artworks in nature for 37 years. He is one of the founding members of YATOO, an artist collective pursuing nature art, which was established in summer 1981. Humans and nature are at the core of his artworks. 32 years in South Korea, he has been travelling
to pursue his interest in nature art in different
natural and cultural environments. Since 2015, he has been co-directing “Global Nomad Art Project (GNAP)”, a project encouraging artists to create artworks while travelling like nomads.
