Born in 1964 in Yongwol, South Korea. As one of the leading Asian artists, Lee has presented at Venice Biennale (1999, Italy) and Fondation Cartier (2007-8, France). She is known for three- dimensional works consisting of different materials using various methods such as a cyborg that looks like a combination of machines and humans appearing in a film featuring the end of world or luminous models of architectures and cities that could collapse in
a matter of seconds drawing inspiration from Bruno Taut or Vladimir Tatlin. Her artworks address a desire to resist to an unjust society under the oppression by a military regime. She ran a solo exhibition at Mori Art Museum (2012, Tokyo) and participated in Aichi Triennale (2013, Nagoya) in Japan.
