Echigo-Tsumari Kamigo Clove Theatre
The Kamigo Junior High School closed down in 2012 but was reopened as a new base for the performing arts. Kamigo Clove Theatre functions as a residency, practice facility, and a performing arts stage and theatre. Artists are invited to reside in this facility and lead a “satoyama” lifestyle and learn through collaboration with local people to influence their performances. Within the building is also a unique restaurant where meals are served by local women while they “perform” a theatrical piece.
