The “Hachi & Tashima Seizo Museum of Picture Book Art” is a former school that has been transformed into a spatial picture book. At Hachi Café, we serve the “Special Vegetable Curry” featured in Tashima Seizo’s picture book *The School Will Never Be Empty*, which inspired the museum. You can also enjoy ice cream made with butterbur shoots harvested in the Hachi village, as well as our original blend of coffee.Take a seat at one of the warm, wooden tables and chairs and enjoy the leisurely pace of time as you relax.

The “Echigo Matsudai NOHBUTAI Satoyama Shokudo,” a blue restaurant located at Matsudai NOHBUTAI. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Matsudai region through mirrored tables and large windows overlooking the Rice Fields. At the buffet, savor freshly cooked new-crop rice along with side dishes and soups that go perfectly with it.

At the rest area for the Special Exhibition “Waterside ENNICHI in MonET—From Rice Balls to a Giant Maze,” we’ll be serving meals that warm both body and soul, such as rice balls made with new-crop rice, pork miso soup, and sweet sake made with soy milk.

We have an eat-in area where both guests of the “Akashi no Yu” day-trip hot spring and other visitors are welcome to stop by. In addition to our food menu—which includes Tsumari Pork Ga Pao Rice and pickled local vegetables—you can also enjoy our special soft-serve ice cream and cream sodas. Our shop also sells seasonal vegetables, fruits, and bread.

Akiyamago is a secluded region located on the border between Niigata and Nagano Prefectures. Nestled deep in the mountains and prone to heavy snowfall, this area has historically been cut off from the surrounding regions during winter. A former school in this area has been transformed into the “Akiyamago Ketto Katakuri House.” It is a luxurious lodging facility where you can enjoy delicious meals and hot springs to soothe the fatigue of your travels.

This is an artwork and restaurant where traditional thatched roofs, hearths, Furnaces, Washing stands, and bathtubs have been recreated using pottery. Each room features pottery representative of various regions across Japan, and meals are served on pottery dishes. The rice is delicious terraced-field rice harvested from the “Keiji Rice Fields” in the Higashishimogumi settlement, where Ubusuna House is located.
