A public hall in the Matsudai shopping street was the base camp for our project; our aim was to revitalize that space. Lasting two and a half months, the project was a part of the general curriculum at Matsudai Junior High School, and focused on creating new forms out of objects found in the hall or the hall building itself. No clear-cut vision was specified beforehand. All progress was based on frank conversations, concordant moods, shared circumstances, and unexpected happenings. This approach left the project open to creating new and unexpected forms. The result was a variety of developments that engaged the junior high school students, shopkeepers, visitors, and others in many ways until the close of the Triennial.
