The project was to install “a day in white winter” in a vivid green fresh beech forest. A workshop was held one day in February at Hoshi-to-Mori-no-Uta Museum covered in deep snow with eighteen primary school children. The beech forest was white and quiet, and a pond reflecting green trees in summer was also under the snow. Participants wore snowshoes and photographed landscapes, the sky and friends wearing colorful snow jackets. Participants threw snowballs and dived into clean snow, and the garden of the museum, usually a quiet place with no visitors during winter, was filled with laughter of children.Photos taken at the workshop were placed in a white cube lightbox, installed in a beech forest. Looking into small holes, visitors could catch a glimpse of completely different outlook of the same site in a different season. The white box was like a time machine delivering the shifting colors and time, air and temperature.
