Harnessing sunlight through ‘snow enclosures’ nurturing culture and nature in Tokamachi”
This collaborative project involves individuals specialising in community building from Doobu, who has been participating in the festival since 2012, along with students from Nagano Satoshi’s laboratory, who focus on social issues such as ageing, regional cultural inheritance, and revitalization. The project centres on the concept of “snow enclosures” installed in old houses in Tokamachi, harnessing winter sunlight indoors to activate the region’s natural environment. The initiative aims to promote interaction and explore post-exhibition utilisation within the community.

Highlighting “washi paper”, a local asset, the artist creates an original website from the perspectives of nature, culture, and industry. The project includes the creation of a spacial artwork in the old watermill.
