Koshirakura once had a flourishing carp cultivation industry. However, the earthquake destroyed all the aquariums, and they remain in pitiful form here and there. The artist gathered the water-weeds growing in the damaged aquariums and placed them at the front of his arrangement. For the Thematic exhibition, branches of primrose jasmine danced across the room and were placed as if ascending to heaven. The soil of Echigo-Tsumari was used for the permanent exhibition. This encounter among things born in different climates is one of the interesting elements of ikebana. Here, gaymia lilies from Africa and the soil of Tsumari encountered one another, giving birth to a new story.
