About the artwork

This work exhibits a sense of gravity while maintaining an airy rhythm at the feet. The artist thought about “production and consumption” as the relationship between nature and the lives of human beings, and created this work as an expression of the wish for peaceful symbiosis. The artist commuted to Echigo-Tsumari each weekend and used a nearby arbor as her base. At night she would spread a sleeping bag under the sky full of stars, watch fireflies fluttering by, greet raccoon dogs coming down from the mountains, and in the morning, would wake up to see her work shining brightly in the sun.
