The concept of this artwork was inspired by construction work on the road in front of a house. One day the work began with the digging of a large square hole right before my eyes. Later, the road was paved again, and it seemed that nothing had happened. But now there is an underground cave beneath the road, filled with water. The cave was built as a water reservoir for fighting fires. In the process, that mass of water was suspended in a place between existence and non-existence. Witnessing the construction work, I have come to be sure that facts, existence are in reality fragile and erotic. I wanted to create an oscillating region, a space between real water (or matter) and imaginary water (or matter), a place they both touch.I chose a place where art melts into architecture by locating the work partly inside a steel building, fused with it to be part of the structure. By placing the installation in this location, I endeavored to neutralize as much as possible the material properties of the iron sealing the water and to translate the experience of water into an experience in a conceptual domain.
