Water Display is a system for experience the presence of water. When a visitor tries to see the outer world through a water membrane ceiling, the station looks differently from what it usually does. Having one’s head envveloped in the sound of water, the smell of water, and transparent scenery evokes strange feelings in the person who experiences it. While Triennial visitors were cooling their heads and taking their snapshots, behind the scenes water hygiene and maintenance were supported by volunteer staff from Kohebi-tai and the city office. I also would like to express my gratitude to the local people, including the assistant stationmaster, the staff of the kioskand of the buckwheat-noodle shop, all of whom warmly regarded my cool art. I have been developing water domes of various sizes in a number of locales, and this is my Tokamachi water display made with Tokamachi water.
