When considering what might be the produce that Echigo-Tsumari is most famous for, the artist hit upon rice. He developed a new commercial product—a white container in the shape of a grain of rice, which is full of the finest Koshihikari rice produced in Takizawa. It became very popular as a souvenir gift, with some shops selling out almost as soon as it was placed on the shelves. There was a display in the village which was an attempt to get the rice producers and the people eating rice at their dining table at home, closer together. Takizawa is a small village with not even ten houses. In the place where the primary school used to be, a grain of rice, surrounded by wooden material, lies on display, white and shining.
