This was a hands-on merry-go-round, which allowed a handle to be turned to make horses, made of metal, go around. This piece was named Kurukuru Samba due to the three (san in Japanese)horses that go around, and it was inspired by Ohtaka Sizzle’s song, Kaiten Mokuba (Rotating Carousel). Visitors from adults to children were allowed to enjoy riding the horses on special days set aside during the exhibition.
The triangular flags decorating the piece were made during workshops held with over 70 participants, including fourth graders from Tokamachi Elementary School and first graders from Junior High School, students from Fureai no Oka Special Needs School. The handprints on the flags testified to the lives of the children.
