About the artwork

The artwork was conceived as a museum for the preservation of the projects of imaginary persons who lived in the former Soviet Union. Consisting of stories, drawings and objects of those plans, including those which failed or were abandoned, the artwork regards such plans and dreams as evidence that these people once lived.

《Paradise Under The Ceiling》Open to the public from July 13, 2024
Standing in a Certain “Room,” Inhabitants of a Small Paradise
“This world is made up of so many plans – plans that were realized, half-realized, or completely
unrealized.” Regarding human dreams and plans as evidence of people’s lives, this artwork is based on the concept of preserving them, including ones that were failed or abandoned. It is one of the pieces housed in the “Project Palace,” which gathered plans and dreams of fictional people living in the former Soviet Union. Set in Echigo-Tsumari, the artist envisioned creating a soft “heavenly world” in the room.
