About the artwork

A Tranquil Observation Deck Harmonising with the Surrounding Landscape
Situated within Tanokura Park, the “Unslippery God (A Sure-fire God)” serves as a revered site where many come to offer prayers for success in exams and other endeavours. Legend has it that the construction of a shrine and a purification ritual conducted in Tanokura village, once plagued by landslides, led to the cessation of such disasters, fostering widespread faith in the area. Here, the artist, renowned for designing structures that harmonise with environmental characteristics and resources, envisions an “observation deck” that enhances the surroundings with its panoramic vistas.
