About the artwork

Funami showed his silk-screened works and folding screens in the genkan or entrance areas of two private homes. Infiltrating his work into homes still built in the traditional manner so well suited to life in Matsudai, in the heart of the Snow County, he sought to achieve a locus for transformation and renewed appreciation of the homes through an unexpected encounter between contemporary art and these historical living spaces.
