In the early 12th century, French Benedictine monks composed songs by interpreting the positions of birds on trees as musical notes. Using this method as a hint, the artist came up with the idea to reproduce an accidental composition by means of nature and using modern technology. Cosmic rays known as alpha, beta and gamma, were transposed into a score using Geiger counters as a recording method, and the score was performed by an automated piano aided by a computer.
