Between two houses there is always a gap that you can peer into. I used lumber to frame the scenery and sky glimpsed through that gap, presenting a fresh sight of a familiar landscape. My hope was to give viewers a new visual experience by creating a restricted view of the limitless landscape that spreads out beore them. Thus, the work (the wooden frame) is not conspicuous; the scenery brought into focus from which the full landscape plays the starring role. The work forms a subtle boundary that both assimilates and dissimilates the landscape.
