A house became a lifeless shell with the passage of time. By hand carving the entire house, the artists shed its skin and resurrected it as a work of art. It took two and a half years from the planning to the completion, and the artists stayed in Tsumari for over 160 days. “We found a house that had been standing for over 200 years, disappearing. Living in a changing city, we appreciate this changeless place. The Shedding House has carved out a new time, and the carvers must have shed their skin.” (Junichi Kurakake).
The “Shedding House” is also available for overnight stays as a farmhouse guest house.
