About the artwork

Recognizing rice being one of the primary economies in the region and as ourselves architects from a rice culture, we have created a piece of architectural work that offers a place in the paddy field to take a break and enjoy the scenery to both the visitors and the local farmers. Rice House, constructed with steel grating, constitutes a picture frame from a distance and a pavilion with two chairs once approaching nearby. Rice House accentuates peoples’ sense of the seasonal changes by casting reflection in the water in spring, floating over the waving ocean of golden rice in summer, anchoring to the ground among the rice stems in fall, and being buried in the snow in winter. However, it would not totally disappear even in the middle of winter, since a revolving 1:10 model placed high on a post will be always visible reminding one of the new spring to come.
