A ceiling covered with countless stars. The mirrors on the floor reflect the tiny flickers and, seemingly, even the passage of time. The 2006 work by Sotaro Ide and Toshiya Takahama titled “House in Koide,” whose concept was “joining the past with the future.” Taking on this theme as their own, students set out to self-build the structure into a seminar house where they could spend the night. The structure was reborn as a center of activity where Tokyo students can get away from the city to interact with the land, nature, and each other.
