After the workshop in the summer of 2004, the artist commuted to the area many times to help residents suffering from the earthquake, to participate in the Snow Festival, and to help with the reaping of rice, and stayed there for a long period. The artist said, “that is because I wanted to feel firsthand the everyday life, which is an important element for my work.” The photographs as materials of his work were collected by the artist as he visited about 120 households. The memories of lives and facts of the past overlap with scenes of current daily lives. During the Triennial, visitors and grandchildren who had returned home for the Bon festival walked around with their grandparents, looking through the photographs, leading to a constant stream of conversations on old memories, bring about new encounters and daily lives in the community.
