Guardian icon: observing the daily life of the community”
Crafted by a sculptor integral to the Karekimata Project since its inception, this new artwork centres on the theme of local endeavours. In Karekimata, renowned for its heavy snowfall, it is a common sight to witness residents clearing snow from the rooftops. Serving as a symbol of the ancestors who safeguarded lives against the perils of heavy rain and snow, this sculpture offers prayers for the enduring existence of homes within the community.
