Seventy-two benches lined up at the bus stop bore words carved into them.Writers and local high school students discussed “what words to speak” for various people they imagined, weaving together phrases. One student who had chosen harsh words fell silent when the writer asked, “Are you sure about this?” just before carving. After a moment, the student said, “I have words I’ve been thinking about,” and began carving silently. It is said beautiful words were carved. A place to listen for whispering voices.
