The village of Hoshitoge, famous for its beautiful terraced rice fields. The artist suggests a chime to welcome people who come to visit. The new chime is an arrangement of Hoshitoge’s traditional bon odori festival dance song “Shongaiya.” The chime flowing through the midsummer early afternoon is intended to create a moment in which one might within a time of relaxation, enjoy a leisurely stretch and feel the marvel of this human existence. The chime has been distributed as a ring tone for mobile telephones, and an internet photo collection was issued in which contributors send in images they had taken while listening to the chime.
