About the artwork

This work involved the regeneration of an old house by producing new views of the nature and homes of Yuyama, using various devices placed inside and outside the house to cut out views. Some local residents said, “We also should cooperate in some way,” and volunteers from the community placed a large sign leading the way from the main street to the house, reading, “Immersed in Another World — The House of Yuyama.” During the Triennial, the people of the village came in turns for maintenance, and played the role of welcoming visitors.
