The artist, Kenji Hara, has been exploring clay, glaze and the firing of Mino pottery for more than 30 years since “he encountered Mino pottery of the Momoyama Era and noted the beauty and deepness of the material.” His works, e.g., Kiseto — yellow Seto pottery, his representative work, have a unique and distinctive beauty, which originates from clay, glaze and the fire in the kiln. The work, exhibited in the first floor tatami room of the Ubusunanoie, must be an explosion of the passion of the artist, who devoted himself to contemporary art in his youth.
