People say that Matsudai has “nothing going for it.” In reality, though, it has an infinity of things that move us. Its magnificent natural environment and its down-to-earth human warmth are but two examples. Both are very much lacking in contemporary society, and neither is for sale. Our aim in creating this work was to show people how many wonderful things “nothing going for it” Matsudai has to offer. moshi-moshi, Mtsu-Dial (Hello, Matsudialing) uses everyday sounds collected in Matsudai from spring to early summer and transmitted through headsets made from telephone handsets to give people a sense of the real, unvarnished Matsudai that those encountering Matsudai only as the site of the Art Triennial would hot have.
