About the artwork

What kind of music would the spatial picture book artist play for collaborative artwork?

This new creation emerges from the artist’s rich experience spanning over half a century, during which they have seamlessly transitioned between roles as a picture book creator and an artist. Drawing inspiration from his formative years spent amidst the lush natural landscapes of Kochi Prefecture, the artist has crafted a work imbued with personal upbringing experiences. Since 2018, efforts have been underway to transform the vicinity of the school building into a harmonious blend of nature and art, establishing a space where the surrounding environment serves as a canvas for “environment and art”. In 2022, a piece symbolising ‘the presence of living beings’ was unveiled.

This latest endeavour marks a collaboration with two sculptors deeply rooted in the realm of art festivals. Through the utilization of a towering iron structure and a newly developed water wheel, they orchestrate a performance titled ‘The Song Taught by the Flow of Water’.
