About the artwork

Everything in the room — from the small desk, the chair, and the broom to the jacket hung over the sliding door — is covered in eucalyptus leaves. The artist created the “Leaf Room” to show the beautiful color gradation of a plant as it fades with time, as well as to show its life. Strips of paper (tanzaku) with people’s wishes and thoughts written on them are attached to eucalyptus branches and sway in the summer breeze.
