About the artwork

The well-known terraced rice fields in Shimizu are located at the top of a narrow, winding mountain path. Many colourful streetlights have been installed in these rice fields, creating small islands of light. Based on the images of colourful streetlights and electronic signages in Tokyo that this artist used to walk by, he poses the question – what kind of impact would these artificial lights have by appearing in these terraced rice fields in the midst of the mountains?
