About the artwork

This new work is an art space empowering every living creature according to Tashima’s vision of “a museum with a hint of presence of living creatures”. The spring exhibition highlights the small lives of trees such as grapes, gonzui, and kusagi that live strongly and healthy in the fields and mountains. The summer and autumn exhibition features rare spices living in the biotope. The artist created the biotope as a place for creatures, which used to live in satoyama but disappeared due to the modernisation to return to. Tashima creates iron sculptures from which viewers could almost hear the voices of creatures living in a biotope, reflecting the thought of the artist “in order to protect the earth environment, turning small lives into art is the most important thing to this planet.” A picture book relating to the artworks outdoor called “Towa and Toto” (published by Hidamarisha) was published in July 2021.
