Relationships Between Hunters and Flora and Fauna Depicted from a Cave Deep in the Mountains
As a painter who continues to work while involved in the hunting and Matagi culture of Tohoku, the artist follows the transition of people, flora, and fauna from Akita to this area through research. They visualise the “untold stories” that existed between the Matagi and flora and fauna by focusing on a cave called “Ryu” that has been used by humans and animals as a resting place deep in the mountains. The artist creates structures using materials from the Matagi village and murals using bear glue, creating an exhibition that imagines the past and future of the mountain village.
