The artist resides in Berlin. She stayed in Echigo-Tsumari for two weeks, weaving black yarn freely throughout the first floor and attic of an empty house. Woven into it were “things people no longer need but cannot throw away,” collected from local residents.Furniture, clothing, books—while weaving memories soaked into the empty house, she carefully knitted them together with thread. “I am grateful to everyone in the village for their cooperation, which made the completion of this artwork possible,” (Shiota Chiharu)
