This project is an experiment intended to stimulate us to think about the sorrows and joys of our predecessors, using historical relics to develop and deepen our image of their lives. Its title, Hane Project (Wing Project), refers to the wings of the folded paper crane, a form that has become widely known in Japan since World War ㈼, particularly in connection with the peace movement. It’s said that folding one thousand paper cranes would make a wish come true. But how would you feel if that familiar paper crane’s wings were separated from its body? Surely you would hope to make it whole again, and multiplying such hopes can generate a mysterious power. Our one thousand folded paper cranes, each with a wing removed, represent our hope for peace and our dream of conveying that hope to as many people as possible through this project.
